Aside Permanent Secretaries and Ministers it is only the National Records Service cadre in government that takes oath of secrecy, and it was the turn of forty-nine (49) newly recruited records personnel under the National Records Service (NRS) take oath.
The new Records personnel were sworn-in at a ceremony held at the National Records Service NRS headquarters at Quadrangle in Banjul.
The oath of Secrecy was administered by the Curator of Interstate Estate, Kumba Jow, a member of the National Records Advisory Committee (NRAC) and Senior State Counsel, Sainabou Jahateh both at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Bartholomew Marong, Director of the National Records Service affirmed that all NRS staff shall before taking office subscribe to an oath of secrecy in accordance with Section 3 of the NRS Oath Act 1993.
He expressed his gratitude to Curator Jow and Counsel Jahateh for leaving behind their busy schedule to administer the Oath to his personnel.
The Records personnel in their pledge before the Curator Jow and senior counsel Jahateh said being civil servants in the employment of The Gambia Government, they will observe with utmost secrecy respecting all matters of confidentiality which may come to their knowledge in discharging their duties.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Director NRS, Adama Joof; Principal Records Officer at NRS, Wassabo Darboe and other NRS officers.
