The Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Demba Sabally recently signed an MOU with the Elevate Global Touching in Texas, the United States of America on areas ranging from rice production and processing, irrigation and wireless agriculture technology, poultry, improved breeds of ruminants and seeds.
The signing of the MOU took place at the end of a weeklong tour of the state of Texas in the USA by the minister and his delegation.
While in Texas, Minister and deligation were hosted by the CEO of Elevate Global, Gil Gonzalez, a former undersecretary for Agriculture under the Bush and Trump administration, Western Martinez, former Texas Land Commissioner and JT Kujabi a former Gambian diplomat and current director of communication strategy at Elevate Global and Rene Zamora. They discussed on a wide range of issues relationg to agricultural development and cooperation. Minister Sabally and delegation also met Sid Miller, Texas Commissioner of Agriculture, Oficials of the chamber of commerce in Austin and other of actors in agriculture and agricultural industries. They had bilateral discussion on how to improve agricultural productivity in the Gambia.
A team from the Texas Department of Agriculture, the University of Texas and a host of potential investors are expected in The Gambia soon to explore agricultural opportunites and areas of cooperation.
The Minister’s delegation included Ebrima Ceesay, Secretary to the cabinet, Lamin Jawara, Permanent Secretary PMO and Lamin Kanyi, Principal Assistant Secretary at OP.
