It is needless to say that The Gambia is one of the most peaceful countries in the region. As we conclude the last exercise in the 2021-2023 electoral cycle of the country’s political calendar, with the mayoral and chairmanship elections just held, it is imperative that we all metaphorically converge at the muster point and march together towards our promised land. We must remind and urge each other about the duanting task and the arduous journey ahead which requires nothing order than unity.
Now that the elections are over, it is very vital that we all come to terms with the reality and refocus on the common good.
We believe that all contenders and supporters had only one agenda and this was to build The Gambia. After listening to and hearing from all of them, Gambians had the final decision and therefore whatever was decided should be respected and acknowledged.
More so, those who were elected should now turn back to their competitors, share ideas, review their agendas then work together for a common good. We can all agree that politics is part of the world and we must all learn to do it in the most civilised and peaceful way.
Gambians should not allow campaign errors to guide our actions during this post-election time. Elections are key elements in democracy and politics and therefore we must always conduct it in unity and maintain it even after elections. As the saying goes with peace we can achieve anything.
