Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation in The Gambia His Excellency Corrado Pampaloni, last week paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism and Culture Honorable Abdoulie Jobe, at his office in Banjul.
Ambassador Pampaloni, whose term in The Gambia comes to an end at end of this month, was at the Tourism ministry to bid farewell to the minister and to discuss the bilateral areas of cooperation; such as youth empowerment, skills development of women, and the development of The Gambia’s tourism sector.
The Ambassador thanked Minister Jobe for receiving him in his office and reassured him of the European Union’s continual support of The Gambia Government’s development agenda.
Honorable Abdoulie Jobe thanked His Excellency Ambassador Pampaloni for the visit and expressed hope that the good bilateral ties between The Gambia and the European Union will grow to higher heights.
The Minister also briefed the Ambassador on some of the good initiatives his Ministry is undertaking to make the tourism sector vibrant.
He noted that tourism is a key sector of the nation’s economy; and that it contributes to the socio-economic development of the country; particularly in the area of employment creation for many Gambians.
