The Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Hon. Seedy K.M. Keita accompanied by the Senior Management Team (SMT) recently concluded the first leg of the familiarisation tour of satellite institutions under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs.
The visits afforded the Minister and team the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the management of the institutions and operational procedures as well as discuss the successes and challenges encountered by management, and to give advice on the way forward.
The tour, which kick-started on 10th August 2022 took the team to the Asset Management Recovery Corporation (AMRC), Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), Central Bank of The Gambia (CBG), Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC), National Authorizing Officer System Support Unit (NAOSU), Social Development Fund (SDF), Gambia Public Procurement Authority (GPPA), Public Utility and Regulatory Authority (PURA) and the Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBoS).
Minister Keita used the opportunity to encourage the visited institutions to step up efforts in serving the public good, saying they have important roles to play in the socio-economic growth of the country and are key to the development aspirations of The Gambia. He assured his Ministry’s support to strengthening and consolidating oversight functions in respect of the regulatory mandates of these institutions.
As multi-sector regulators, the minister urged those of them mandated with regulating other entities to continuously monitor and advise the entities under their regulations to perform better in consideration of public interest. The second leg will continue in due course.
