The deputy Permanent Secretary for Finance and Admin at the Ministry of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters, Malang Darboe has said that through dialogue and commitment, The Gambia Government and the European Union have worked to protect waters while promoting economic growth and community well-being.
Mr Darboe made this remark last week at the 5th Joint Committee Meeting of the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement between The Gambia and the European Union. “This meeting symbolises years of shared effort, grounded in mutual respect and cooperation, with a joint responsibility for our oceans’ future,” he remarked. He urged participants to reaffirm their commitment to sustainability, equity, and inclusivity while envisioning thriving oceans and prosperous communities for generation to come.
The two-day event saw participants discuss various aspects of fisheries management; from economics to science.
In his statement, the Director of Fisheries, Madam Anna Mbenga-Cham said the meeting symbolises years of shared effort, grounded in mutual respect and cooperation; and that collective knowledge, shaped by unique experiences, will guide the meeting through the complexities of fisheries management, leading to a more resilient and fair future.
The meeting was chaired by Madam Fanta B S Manneh, deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters.
