Banjul, 28th April 2025: His Excellency President Adama Barrow on Saturday, April 26th received Mr. Xu Qin, Secretary of Communist Party of China in the Province of Heilongjiang at State House in Banjul.
Mr. Xu Qin’s visit followed President Adama Barrow’s trip to China for the China-Africa summit, where he visited the Province of Heilongjiang and met Mr. Xu Qin.
The Banjul visit by the Communist Party secretary resulted in the signing of several bilateral agreements between the Chinese company, Longjiang Construction Company, and some key Gambian institutions, following his closed-door meeting with President Barrow.
The agreements and MoU involve a water project, sports promotion, health, training, rice production and infrastructure.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Chief of Staff and Minister of Presidential Affairs; Health minister Dr. Ahmed Samateh; Alieu Njie, Secretary to cabinet and head of civil service; Agric Minister Dr. Demba Sabally.
The Gambian institutions include NRA for construction and maintenance of roads and bridges; ROOTS project on rice production; and The Gambia Investment Export Agency (GIEPA) on agriculture for land development.By Lamin Kujabi
