Gambia, Spain Sign Agreements on Migration,  Security

His Excellency President Adama Barrow on Wednesday, 28th August received at State House Pedro Sanhze, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, who was in the country for a day’s visit.
The Prime Minister was received at the Banjul International Airport by His Excellency the Vice President Mohammed BS Jallow.
The Prime Minister’s visit to The Gambia marked a milestone in the relationship between the two countries. The outcomes of the visit are anticipated to drive further progress in strengthening the partnership between The Gambia and Spain.
At the end of their tête-à-tête, the two heads of state signed two agreements - on security and migration.   The two agreements are crucial for facilitating regular migration and ensuring stability and security.
The Circular Migration Agreement is expected to enable Gambians legally migrate to Spain to work in industries to tackle labour shortages in Spain. 
On the other hand, the Security Cooperation Agreement aims to enhance cooperation in addressing security challenges, through the exchange of information and intelligence to combat organised crime and other security threats.
The signing ceremony of the two agreements were witnessed by ministers, chief of staff, Office of the President, Secretary General and Head of the Civil Servants, security chiefs, senior government officials, advisers to the President; and Madam Maria Dolores; Ambassador of Kingdom of Spain to The Gambia 
By addressing key areas such as migration and security, both nations aim to unlock new opportunities for mutual benefit, enhancing their partnership.
The State visit highlights the strengthening of ties between The Gambia and Spain, focusing on bilateral development.
