The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare in collaboration with Action Aid the Gambia,  recently validated the Training Manual on Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and Harmful Traditional Practices (HTP) training manual at the Action Aid conference hall in Kanifing.

The activity funded by Global Fund is meant to develop a customize and user-friendly manual to be utilized by stakeholders in the  (SGBV-HTP) prevention and protection move in  the country.

The consultant, Mr. Kajali Sonko dilated on the need to send key messages in the quest to minimize SGBV and HTP. This he said can hardly be realized without a guiding framework

“The SGBV training manual was generated through a baseline report, desk review and institutional mapping that was used in developing the training manual.  We will look at critical areas so that all issues relating  on SGBV are captured  and  reported,’’ he stated.

He tasked the participants to take ownership of the document to ensure that proceedings are done in the right manner in advocating for the fight against SGBA and HTP.

Mr. Fallou Sowe, Coordinator, NGBV dilated on the significance of the manual noting that  it will ensure the dissemination of common messages and will serve as  reference document for all stakeholders. He thanked the members of the Technical Working Group for the support during the manual development process, Action Aid the Global Fund for the Technical and Financial support.

He stated that the document is an inter-link that will help them to holistically look at the training manual critically so that they can curtail the menaces of sexual-related infections.

He assured the participants at the end of the validation, training of trainers (TOT) and a step-down training will be conducted in order to further popularize the training manual on SGBV and HTP
