The Minister of Interior, Mr. Seyaka Sonko recently received Service Chiefs of the Ministry of Interior at his office in Kotu.
The purpose of their meeting was to brief the minister about the challenges they are facing in the execution of their daily operational duties and functions as well as to discuss and map a way forward to ensure effective service delivery in the country.
In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mr. Assan Tangara welcomed the security service chiefs and thanked them for honouring the Minister’s invitation.
PS Tangara expressed the need for continuous collaboration among the line departments of the Ministry. He stated that the line departments of the ministry should continue supporting each other to ensure peace and security in the country.
Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Interior, Mr. Seyaka Sonko said the purpose of the meeting was to engage with his heads of department to discuss plans for mitigating some of the challenges they are facing at their various institutions in a bid to enhance their performance and register improvement in the execution of their functions and duties.
Honourable Minister Sonko called on all the service chiefs of the Ministry of Interior to strengthen partnership and collaboration among themselves to enhance effective service delivery in the country.
He said His Excellency President Adama Barrow and members of the National Security Council want all the security service chiefs to continue to collaborate as a team and work collectively to provide security and safety to the entire Gambians.
Minister Sonko encouraged all the heads of his security institutions to strengthen communication among themselves and the Ministry of Interior through continuous engagement to make certain that security matters are effectively addressed.
The service chiefs expressed support to the Ministry of Interior to ensure effective service delivery in the country.
