The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST) in collaboration with partners, recently organised the second High-level Technical Workshop to develop the first draft of the National Strategy for the Digitalisation of Technical, Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) programme in The Gambia. The 3-day convergence brought together relevant directors, heads of institutions and departments to discuss the ‘UNESCO 10 Targets’ for the initiative and the ‘5 Building Blocks’ as strategies to provide a programme overview, including goals, timeframe, matrix or outcome; what communication channels to use, how much funding support is needed and so on. This was followed by plenary and whole group discussions.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary Technical delivered the opening statement on behalf of the Permanent Secretary.
In July 2022, MoHERST organised a day’s high-level launching workshop for the development of the national strategy for the digitalisation of TVET in The Gambia.
Following the high-level launching, the Ministry organised the 1st technical workshop to discuss and review the methodology and the results from the situational analysis, as well as the work plan for input and adoption by the National Technical Team. This allows the consultant to finalise the situational analysis as well as the methodological guidelines to further share with the team for their input and finalisation to move to the next steps of the development process.
This project is funded by UNESCO through the Pan African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET and Skills Development Systems in Africa.
