The Minister of Public Service,  Administrative Reform, Policy Coordination and Delivery has underscored his ministry’s commitment to ensuring that the public service becomes a pillar of national development - particularly become responsive to the evolving needs of the country.
Hon. Baboucarr Bouy made this statement last week during the official opening of a two-day validation workshop of his ministry’s Strategic Plan 2024-2028 at a local hotel in Kololi.
He noted that his ministry’s strategic plan is anchored on three key pillars; namely: Administrative Reforms, Strategy and Policy Coordination and Performance Management and Delivery.
These pillars he explained, are designed to support the overarching goal of enhancing efficiency, effectiveness and accountability within the public sector.
He therefore stressed that, their task will not just be limited to assessing the contents of the plan but to ensure that the final product reflects the collective realities of public service and the aspirations of its stakeholders.
According to Minister Bouy, the future of public service and by extension the country depends on his ministry’s ability to lay a solid foundation for a responsive, accountable and efficient public service that truly serves the people and can stand the test of time in an ever-changing national and global environment.
“Our public service must also leverage on the opportunities offered by technology so that our citizens can benefit from better public services,” he atated.
The Minister reminded that his ministry was established in 2022 with the mandate of reorganising the public service, coordinating the development and administration of policies and systems aimed at creating a responsive public service delivery.
“This validation should provide an opportunity for us to collectively scrutinise and refine the strategies embedded in the plan by ensuring that they are aligned with core values of highly performing civil service and grounded in the principles of meritocracy, fairness and responsiveness to the needs of our people,” Minister Bouy concluded.
