NPP Holds Maiden Congress

The National People’s Party concluded its first ever National Party Congress on Wednesday 28th December 2022, at Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre. The delegates gathered to elect new executive committee members for the Party.

This new executive are expected to now go back to strengthen the party structures in their respective villages, constituencies and regions as well as prepare for the upcoming local government election in March 2023.

The President His Excellency Adama Barrow was overwhelmingly endorsed by the party delegates as the party leader and secretary and flag bearer of National People’s Party. Dembo Bojang has maintained his position as National President; Dr. Demba Sabally has also maintained his position as first Deputy National President and Suku Singhateh, Second Deputy National President.

Lamin Cham won the position of Campaign Manager in Niani, Central River Region against Fafa Ceesay; while Bakary Sanne serves as his deputy.

Honorable Lamin Queen Jammeh is the Spokesperson and Honourable Seedy Njie his deputy; Maimuna Balde is the National Women Mobiliser.

Honourable Maimuna Ceesay also maintained her position as Diaspora Secretary; Honourable Musa Drammeh as Treasurer and Dodou Sanno Organising Secretary.

Dembo  Bojang, NPP National President called on party militants and members to learn the exemplarily leadership and be committed to democracy as well as promote peace and development.

Mr. Mambayick Njie, Executive Secretary of NPP described the NPP congress as being long and tedious “but we stood by each other and made it successful without any hitches.’’

He further said that people may have different views and opinions on how the party should be managed, but the biggest aim is to strengthen it to become the biggest party in the country and that it will be the responsibility of every militant and official who has been elected in the party from the village, ward, constituency, region and the national levels.

Deputy Spokesperson Honourable Seedy Njie described the congress as the most successful.
