President Barrow Graces Inauguration of Soma Mosque

As part of his country-wide tour, His Excellency President Adama Barrow on Friday, May 17th headed to Jara East in Lower River Region, to joined hundreds of people in the inaugural Friday prayers of the new Soma mosque.
The President was the lead sponsor  of the construction of the mosque. He donated D100, 000 to the Soma mosque committee to buy cash power for the new mosque. The occasion was  also graced by ministers, senior government officials, religious leaders, and the community of soma and the surrounding communities.
At the time of construction of Soma mosque, President Barrow  is reported to have contributed over D10 million.
 Imam Saikou Kanteh led the inaugural sermon. He thanked the President for the immense contribution to the construction of the mosque, and all others who also contributed. He then called on Gambians to unite, be righteous Muslims and to put all their hopes on God.
Speaking on the occasion, the President thanked the people of Soma and the mosque committee for the good work.
He called on Gambians to unite and work together to develop the country , as well as maintain peace in the country.
Yaya Jarjusey, Chief of Jara East, also recognised the contribution of the President and the sons and daughters of Soma in the diaspora.
