President Adama Barrow on Friday, August 9th discussed with members of Gambian-Turkish Business Council about possible trade opportunities and investment between The Gambia and Türkiye.
Members of the council appealed for the President’s support in exporting raw materials and bringing Turkish investors into the country.
To promote industrialisation, President Barrow advised the council to not only focus on exporting raw materials but also engage in manufacturing them into various products. He urged the Council to work with the Ministry of Trade and other key stakeholders to identify key potential investors in the country.
On the issue of electricity and market access, President Barrow said the government is hugely investing in power to achieve universal access by the end of 2025, which can be lucrative for investors.
Fatou Senghore, Chair of the Gambian-Turkish Business Council, thanked the President for receiving them and supporting their ideas.
The Gambia and the Republic of Türkiye enjoy deep-rooted ties of friendship and bilateral relations.
The Barrow administration aims to make The Gambia an attractive and investor-friendly destination by improving infrastructure to boost investments, trade, and economic growth.
