Public Service Ministry Holds Review Workshop on Findings of Skill Gap Assessment

The consultants currently on a skills gap assessment exercise for the civil service have recently presented their pre-liminary findings to the seven stakeholder institutions in a day-long workshop at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre.
The consultants from CERFORES Firm in Uganda, have been contracted by the Ministry of Public Service, Administra-tive Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery to conduct the assessment for seven ministries.

In his opening remarks, Permanent Secretary at the Personnel Management Office (PMO), Lamin Jawara it was deemed necessary to conduct Core Government Functions Skills Gap Assessment “so that trainings be better guided and impactful”.
Describing the exercise as an important one, PS Jawara implored the stakeholders to go through the findings thor-oughly in order to come out with a realistic report that will suit the need of the civil service.    
In his power point presentation, the coordinator of the Core Government Functions Skills Gap Assessment project team, Mr. Ronald Okite from the CERFODES Firm, expressed gratitude to the Acting Director, Human Resource Devel-opment Division (HRDD), Mr. Geoffrey M. Bala-Gaye and his staff at PMO under the Ministry of Public Service (MoPS) for guiding them through.
He affirmed that this was a preliminary finding and that the final report will presented once the exercise has been completed.
