Fatou Mbowe, a young Gambian female mobile phone technician, is a true definition of one that breaks the glass ceiling. The young entrepreneur has defied work-related stereotypes, as she meanders the rough path of technical work.
In this interview the phone technician highlighted her passion for such male-dominated trade and recounted her journey started.
She said when she completed Grade 12, three months after sitting to WASSCE examination she went to search for job. “I asked a friend whether they have vacancy in their shop and he said yes. I went to the shop and started work there. The first day I went to the shop I met people repairing phones, and I became inspired”.
Ms. Mbowe said that she has been repairing phones for five years and that she now has her own shop and employed young people.
