Following her passion since childhood, young entrepreneur, Anna Gaye, has finally hit major mile stone in entrepreneurial journey. She opened a new shop at Serrekunda market, where she sells hand-made skin care products.
Anna’s success has rooted from her early passion for entrepreneurship and dedication to giving a helping hand to her mum. Earlier in her entrepreneurial journey, she was engaged in small businesses like selling sweets and chewing gums.
“Growing up seeing my mother, a strong woman, struggling to give us a better life, I became determined and enthusiastic,” she stated.
To Anna, she has a part to play in her mother’s life, just as her mum does. That is why she has to defy all odds to make this dream a reality.
Speaking of more on her inspiration, Ms Gaye said: “I started by selling soap for someone and I registered great successes for them; but with little allowance, and unforeseen circumstance, I had to quit that business. The thought of doing it for myself to realise my dream of becoming an entrepreneur came in”.
Being a young skilled innovative lady, Anna came up with the idea of making her own skin care products; such as soaps, serums, scrubs, and lip balm among others.
Challenges
Despite facing difficulties at the beginning of the journey, Anna remained astute, describing the challenges as her inspirations. “It is hard holding a heavy bag of soap going round to meet clients to deliver goods. Occasionally some clients tend to be rude to you. But I kept going, getting inspired by my mum and working hard to make her proud.
Word of wisdom
The sprouting entrepreneur has a word of advice for budding women entrepreneurs: “To be successful in business, giving up should not be an option”.
She also called young entrepreneurs to maintain loyalty, honesty and integrity. “Let each play their part and be each other’s keeper, especially to my fellow ladies. Together, we shall take women entrepreneurship to the world,”
