In his annual Ramadan humanitarian gesture to the Muslim community, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vision Development Foundation (VDF), Momodou Turo Darboe, and the Board recently gave out 4, 275 bags of sugar (10 kilos) to different security apparatuses, institutions, and the needy across the country.
Mr. Saihou Fofana, Vision Development Foundation’s board member, who double as the Public Relation Officers of the Foundation described the CEO as someone who believes in the spirit of sharing and caring for the needy; especially in the Holy month of Ramadan. “Let me assure you all (beneficiaries) that VDF will continue its philanthropic gesture. We need your prayers so that the Foundation can continue its kind gesture to The Gambian populace,” said VDF-PRO Fofana.
According to Mr. Fofana, for over 25 years, VDF has maintained the spirit of caring and supporting.
Ousman Yabo, former TANGO Director described VDF CEO as a real philanthropist. “I witnessed where he offered help to sick person for overseas treatment, paid students’ fee up to University level, and gave women seed money to start their businesses. He does this without even knowing the origin of the said sick person.” Mr. Yarbo attested .
According to Mr. Yarbo, Mr. Darboe also reconstructed many dilapidated community roads, built police stations, provided boreholes among others to the Gambian communities across the country.
Councilor for Latri-Kunda Sabi ward, Mr. Ansumana Bayo represented the Mayor of KMC, Talib Ahmed Bensouda, said VDF’s support does only stop within Kombo; instead throughout the country.
Masanneh Gassama (beneficiary), on behalf of the Alkalo and Imam of Faji-kunda; Mr. Wandifa Touray (beneficiary) from Jarra Buiba in the Lower River Region; Muhammed Saidy (beneficiary) from Gunjur-Sambuya in Kombo South District, all expressed delight for the gesture and commended the VDF for always supporting the needy.
As at March 29, 2024 VDF distributed 16,123 bags of sugar in 10 kilos to needy communities and institutions from various parts of the country since the commencement of the 2024 Holy month of Ramadan.
The exercise is still underway at VDF’s Churchill’s Town office and the last to receive the gesture as at the above mentioned date were the National Assembly Members (NAMs) from NBR, CRR and URR.
