Vice President Muhammed B. S. Jallow has praised the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia for its outstanding contributions to national development, particularly in education, technology, and support for the underprivileged.
The made this remark while delivering his keynote address during the 47th Jalsa Salana of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat The Gambia, held on Friday, April 25th at Nusrat Senior Secondary School.
The Vice President expressed appreciation for the ongoing partnership between and the government in advancing The Gambia’s development goals.
In his opening speech, Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, The Gambia, Baba F. Trawally, reflected on a prophecy over 1400 years old by the Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad Mustapha (SAW), regarding the coming of a promised reformer, the Imam Mahdi, in the latter days. Amir Trawally explained that the mission of the Imam Mahdi is to revive Islam by returning it to its original teachings and practices, as demonstrated by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Highlighting this year's Jalsa Salana theme, "Ahmadiyyat, The Renaissance of Islam," Amir Trawally emphasised the importance of understanding the foundation and purpose of their Jamaat. He explained that the awaited reformer would be one individual, a follower of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and come from within Islam — the only faith that acknowledges all prophets and messengers sent by Allah, as stated in the Holy Quran.
Amir Trawally described the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat as the divine community prophesied to form with the arrival of the Imam Mahdi and the latter-day Messiah. Citing verses from the Holy Quran (Surah Al-Jumu'ah, Chapter 62, Verses 3–4), he asserted the Jamaat’s strong ties to the true spirit of Islam.
He stressed that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat is not a new religion but a continuation of true Islamic teachings. Members of the Jamaat are devoted followers of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustapha (SAW), striving to uphold the faith with the highest honour and respect.
Amir Trawally further explained that their Jalsa Salana gatherings are not ordinary events but are divinely inspired, aimed at promoting spiritual development, mutual understanding, and strengthening fraternal ties within the community.
“It is essential for all who embark on the journey to attend our conventions, which embody many blessed objectives. Minor inconveniences should be disregarded in the cause of Allah and His Prophet (SAW), as Allah grants rewards for every sincere effort made in His way,” Amir Trawally concluded.
