World Muslim League Confab, Test for IOC Banjul Summit - Religious Affairs Minister

As The Gambia braces up to host a major Muslim conference in December 2022 – the World Muslim League Conference, the Minister of Lands, Regional Governments and Religious Affairs Abba Sanyang, declared Gambia’s hosting of the 4th December event it will be a test for its anticipated hosting of the Organisation Islamic Corporation (OIC) summit, to be held in the nearest future.

The Minister said this during the recent visit of Dr. Abdul Kadrim Ahemed  Masuri of the World Muslim League as a special envoy of Dr. Muhammad Abdul Karim Issa, the President and Secretary General of the World Muslim League to His Excellency President Adama Barrow.

Dr. Abdul Kadrim Ahemed Masuri said he is on a follow-up visit to The Gambia came to The Gambia, following his September 2022 trip to the country.

The envoy had a meeting with President Adama Barrow on Wednesday, 19th October 2022 at State House, to where was accompanied by Honorable Minister Abba Sanyang; and Mr. Omar Gibril Sillah, Gambia’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Mr Sanyang revealed that four hundred delegates are expected to be in attendance, out of which two hundred and fifty will be local delegates.

“We are expecting delegates from all over Africa, all Muslim countries and Muslim friendly countries, and almost all other religious groups in every country are invited,’’ he stated

Dr. Abdul Kadrim Ahemed Masuri affirmed that he came back update the President and to monito all the arrangements for the upcoming event.
