The Minister of Youth and Sports, Bakary Y. Badjie, has inaugurated the Business Formalisation Centre in Basse, Upper River Region.
An initiative of the Enterprise Development Initiative (NEDI), under the Ministry, the centre aims to provide a one-stop step for youth and women in the Central and Upper River Regions to acquire coaching and mentorship on business choices and approaches to register start-ups, guide young and women entrepreneurs on available support in terms of loans and grant at the Ministry or at other agencies.
The authorities believe that the opening of the NEDI office in Basse, making it two, after that of Soma in LRR, stands as a testament of the government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship by Gambians across the country.
The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of NEDI, Mr. Sanna Bah; and the Deputy Governor of URR, Mr. Mamanding Ceesay, both hailed the decentralisation process of NEDI services and called on young people to take the opportunity provided by the centre.
