Bakau are crowned Champions of Gambia Football Federation Super Nawettan 2022 Championship following their win over Sere Kunda West 5-3 on a frantic penalty shootouts in the final of this year’s edition played on Saturday 31st December 2022 at the Sere Kunda East Mini Stadium
The two sides played out a nail bitting draw at regulation time before heading to the lottery with the Kachikally Boys emerging as winners. Bakau created many of the chances but failed to get the cutting edge while S/K West maintained decency at the back throughout although with a few chances to break the jinx.
As winners, Bakau were decorated with a gaint trophy, gold medals and a cheque amounting to D250,000:00 ( Two Hundred and Fifity Thousand Dalasis) while Runners up Serekunda West went home with silver medals and a cheque amounting to D200,000:00 ( Two Hundred Thousand Dalasis) all sponsored by the GFF.
The final was graced by GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo and Executive Committee Members of the Gambia Football Federation, GFF General Secretary Lamin M Jassey, Lord Mayor of the KMC Talib Ahmed Bensouda, Gambia’s Ambassador to Senegal His Excellency Hadrammeh Sidibeh amongst other high profile Football dignitaries.
