Bridge of Goodness: Ongoing, sustainable Emirati giving

ABU DHABI, 9th February, 2023 (WAM) -- The “Bridge of Goodness” campaign announced by the UAE beginning on Saturday, continues the journey of giving and humanitarian action, targeting those affected by humanitarian crises.

The campaign, organised by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), in coordination with humanitarian and charity organisations in the country, aims to rescue the victims of the earthquake that hit Syria and Turkiye, representing the UAE’s approach to supporting friendly countries.

In previous years, the UAE has taken part in relief campaigns that encouraged all segments of society, including institutions and individuals, to participate and help promote the concept of charity work and consolidate it within society.


Supporting Yemen

In 2015, the UAE’s leadership ordered the launch of a relief campaign for Yemen, the largest of its kind, under the slogan “In Your Help, Yemen,” to help some 10 million people whose conditions were affected by the crisis witnessed by the country.

Supporting Somalia

In 2017, the UAE launched a major nationwide campaign with the aim of helping those affected by the famine in the country.

Supporting the Rohingya

In 2019, the UAE launched the “UAE for Rohingya Children and Women” campaign to ease their humanitarian situation and end their suffering resulting from the crisis they were facing, which created a difficult humanitarian reality in terms of all aspects of life necessary for the refugees.

The campaign supported the Emirati efforts to address the repercussions of the crisis and the transition from emergency humanitarian aid to sustainable programmes. It helped meet the growing needs for education, food, health services, water, sanitation and shelter of more than 1.2 million refugees, including 720,000 children, 240,000 women and 48,000 seniors.

Winter campaign

The "Let's Make Their Winter Warmer" campaign in 2022 aimed to support refugees and other vulnerable groups in the Middle East and Africa, as part of the “World’s Coolest Winter” campaign in the UAE.

The campaign reached its goal of US$10 million and collected donations exceeding $11 million, benefitting more than 110,000 families in the Arab region and Africa and enabling them to overcome harsh winter conditions, as well as providing for their basic needs.

Beirut Port

In August 2020, the UAE was among the first countries to take the initiative to help the Lebanese people overcome the crisis caused by the Beirut Port explosion, which resulted in considerable human and material losses.
