The secretary to the Public Service Commission (PSC) Mr. Abdoulie Jafuneh has revealed that his institution’s E-Recruitment Portal system is fully operational. Adding that the portal helps in various recruitment processes such as attracting, assessing, selecting and recruiting of candidates in a quicker way.
Mr. Jafuneh made this disclosure recently during an exclusive interview with Gambia Daily in his office in Banjul.
Mr Jafuneh further explained the rationale behind the E-Recruitment Portal system is to embrace and leverage on good inovation and realities of Science and Technology especially in the digitalization era.
He mentioned that E-recruitment allows filtering requirements to help recruiters to track down the ideal candidates with competencies that match the work position. The filtration apparatuses provided by e-recruitment systems speed up the process of arranging candidates as indicated by experience, education, competencies, and other criteria.
He mentioned that the Portal enables job seekers to apply for jobs as well as submit their applications online which is cost effective. “It is geared towards ensuring access by all and sundry irrespective of wherever one is located,” he noted.
He stated that it is part of Government’s drive to exert a pull on talented Gambians who may wish to come and serve their home country as well reduce the manual application process which is usually time comsuming from advertisement to shortlisting and interviewings.
He mentioned that the hiring process could be shortened simply by clicking a few catches to screen, filter, and sort candidates’ information and CV.
Mr. Jafuneh further explained that the portal is the first of its kind to be introduce into the Government recruitment system. He added that its success and or failure is hinged on how effective and efficient administrators utilize it.
As part of efforts to implement the E-Recruitment Portal, staff of Public Service Commission (PSC) and Personnel Management Office (PMO) held a week-long training workshop at the Nifty Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Solution Training Centre in Bijilo where participants were trained on both theory and practical in all aspects relevant to the E-Recruitment process to avoid any room for errors. The entire outlook of the whole process is user friendly and is accessible anywhere at any time.
