The Fatoumata Bah Barrow Foundation in partnership with Gamtel/ Gamcel on Sunday presented money and baby pans to the first, second and third babies of the year 2023 at Soma District Hospital.
35-year-old Sainabou Touray of Kiang Kaif gave birth to the first baby of the year 2023 at Soma District Hospital at 12am. The baby is a boy with a birth weight of 3.2 kg. While 33-year-old Horja Gano of seno Bajonki gave birth to the second baby also a boy with a birth weight of 3.3 kg and 30-year-old Awa Fofana of Sankuya gave birth to the third baby also a male with birth of 3.2 kg.
The first baby received fifty thousand Dalasi and a baby pan; the second baby received fifteen thousand Dalasi and baby pan while the third baby also received ten thousand Dalasi and a baby pan.
Mothers of the babies thanked the Foundation and the health workers for the services and support provided to them. The gesture, they added will help in the upkeep of the babies for a reasonable period of time.
The head of the maternity ward at Soma District Hospital Yassin Jallow, called on women to regularly visit the hospital for maternal health services and ensure timely reporting to the facility during labour to ensure safe deliveries.
Abdourahman Bah and Alagie Mbye, board members at FaBB Foundation, thanked their partners for complementing the efforts of the Foundation and First Lady in particular.
Speaking on behalf the First Lady, the Governor of Lower River region, Seedy Lamin Bah assured the foundation’s support to maternal health services while advising parents of the babies to judiciously utilize the support provided.
Other women at the maternity ward also received an assortment of baby items from the official of FaBB foundation. A similar presentation of cash prizes and baby pans was held at Ferefenni General Hospital for the first three babies of the year 2023.
