Gov’t Spends D1.3 Billion in Fuel Subsidy from January to Date

While announcing in a press release dated Saturday, September 3rd that an agreement was reached for the resumption sale of fuel and maintenance of the fuel price, after a short but difficult spell of fuel shortage across the country, Government says it has 1.3 billion Dalasis in fuel subsidies to help stabilise the prices. The release singed by the Government Spokesperson, indicates that the subsidy for September 2022 alone is some 5.6 million Dalasis.

About the agreement, the release stated that government has had “hours of meetings and intense negotiations with Oil Marketing Companies” for filling stations across the country to resume selling fuel with immediate effect, while maintaining the current prices of petrol and diesel.

The leadership expressed through the release commitment to continue “to preside over this crucial sector of our economy with right policies and actions including regular consultations with stakeholders”.
