MoBSE, World Bank Convene Videoconference to Update on Projects Implementation Status

The officials of the Basic Education Ministry, together with the World Bank Supervision Team, held a four-day (26 August to 2 September, 2022) videoconference to gauge the progress of the implementation processes of the various intervention projects at the ministry. The focus was on the ESSP Projects, need for additional financing meant to boast effective and efficient sector management systems, supervision, and delivery affiliated to best practices and sound budgetary planning triggered by result-driven initiatives.

The virtual convergence held at the ministry’s conference hall in Banjul was characterised by detailed presentations from the implementing officers on the statuses of the ongoing World Bank projects. It availed the participants an opportunity to identify strength, areas of improvement, and strategies that facilitate the fulfillment and successful implementation of projects on education.

The Project Manager at the Project Coordinating Unit (PCU), Mr Abdoulie Sowe,urged all implementing officers to work harder on the implementation processes and procedures for timely completion, adding that the projects are a huge support to government’s efforts towards ensuring quality education.

At the end of the conference, the Honorable Minister thanked the World Bank Mission and all the participants for the efficacious virtual conference and expressed optimism that the conference will serve as a value-added tool for educational resilience.

The conference was also graced by senior officials of the ministry, Regional Education Directors, representatives from the Gambia College and other stakeholders.
