MoPS Validates Human Resources Management Information System Strategy

The Minister of Public Service (MoPS) has explained that Gambia Government with support from World Bank (WB), is preparing a Public Administrative and Modernisation Project (PAMP), which aims to provide fiscal and Human Resource (HR) management capacity for improved system delivery. Hon. Baboucarr Bouy was speaking last week during the official opening of a two-day validation workshop for the HRMIS strategy held at National Nutrition Agency (NaNA) conference hall, along Bertil Harding highway. According to Minister Bouy, the successful implementation of the PAMP project will lead to efficient automated Human Resources processes and comprehensive, reliable digital HR data through an integrated HRMIS.

The objective of the workshop was to review and validate the HRMIS strategy and associated documents to ensure that they are suitable to guide the implementation and sustainability of the digital management information system. He emphasized that, for the first time, Government will be in a position to collect and manage HR data more efficiently, plan for HR needs in a comprehensive way, monitor and control its wage bills and effectively utilize existing skills in the Public Service. “When HRMIS fully implemented, will allow for the digitalization of HR records, easy retrieval of HR information, the proper planning of HR needs in the public sector and full payroll automation,” said minister Bouy.

He hailed WB for financing the development of the HRMIS strategy as well as expressed his appreciation to CPCU under MoFEA for managing the fiduciary aspect of the project and staff of his ministry for coordinating the development of the strategy. Permanent Secretary, Personnel Management Office (PMO), Lamin F. Jawara highlighted some benefits of the HRMIS while thanking participant for attending the forum.
