NCAC DG Highlights Need for Preservation of Cultural Rights

Banjul, 18th March 2025: Following the successful holding of last year’s Banjul New Year Cultural Festival, the festival’s organising committee recently held a review meeting at the conference room of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in Banjul.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Hassoum Ceesay, Director General of the National Centre for Arts and Culture, thanked all stakeholders and partners for their immense contribution to the successful planning of the event.
He then stressed the importance of maintaining cultural rights at all levels, stating that his office, under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, will continue to show support to the Banjul New Year Cultural Festival organisers and similar organisers around the country.
He concluded by calling on the different stakeholders to work together and better prepare for this year’s event as well.
Mr. Mamud Ceesay of the Banjul Elders Council, on behalf of the elders of Banjul, also thanked the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for the financial contribution towards the hosting of the event.
He stated that last year’s festival was a success and hope that similar measures would be put in place for this year’s upcoming event in December.
