Outgoing ECOMIG Commander Bids Farewell to President Barrow

His Excellency President Adama Barrow on Friday, 30th December 2022, bade farewell to Colonel Cheikh Omar Tamba, a Senegalese ECOMIG Commander in The Gambia whose term of duty has come to an end.

The President awarded certificate of appreciation to the outgoing ECOMIG commander for his good work and commitment.

Speaking to journalists after his meeting with the President, Colonel Cheikh Omar Tamba affirmed that he was at the Presidency to bid farewell to the President and  to introduce his replacement.

The Colonel revealed that the President expressed appreciation and thanked the support of ECOMIG in The Gambia.

“When your neighbour has a problem you should be there to help. This is why ECOMIG is here and I am satisfied with our work in The Gambia. I pray to God that we continue to have peace,’’ he remarked. 

Colonel Cheikh Omar Tamba is replaced by Colonel Ousman Alieu Kane as the new ECOMIG Commander.

Tamba was accompanied to the State House by Lieutenant General Yakuba A Drammeh, Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia Armed Forces;  and Honorable Siaka Jatta; Minister of the Interior of The Gambia.
