Shusha Global Media Forum concludes after extensive deliberations on combating disinformation and addressing AI challenges

SHUSHA (UNA) – The Shusha World Media Forum in Shusha, Azerbaijan, concluded on Monday after three days of extensive deliberations with the participation of experts, media and government officials.

The second edition of the forum will be held under the theme: "Debunking False Information: Combating Disinformation".

The final day of the forum witnessed the third and fourth sessions of the forum, where the third session discussed the topic: "The impact of artificial intelligence on reality, media and misleading news: media awareness".

The session discussed the technologies that play a role in the spread and combating of disinformation, the impact of artificial intelligence on reality, media and disinformation, the importance of media literacy in combating disinformation and increasing media literacy for consumers as a solution to the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence in creating and spreading disinformation in the digital age.

The session also reviewed models of effective cooperation of various parties in combating disinformation, with the participation of representatives of the fields of technology, media and scientists.

The fourth and final session discussed the topic of "Climate Action and Media", where they discussed the role of the media in climate action, the development of effective media mechanisms for a green world, and the importance of the media in establishing a public agenda towards preventing climate change and eliminating its consequences.

At the end of the forum, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Energy Nursultanov gave a presentation on "Solidarity for a Green World – COP29"  in which he addressed the Azerbaijan's vision to address climate issues within the framework of hosting the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) next November.

After the forum, the participants visited the city of Lachin, where they were briefed on its historical and tourist attractions and the efforts of the Azerbaijani government to rebuild it.

The forum hosted more than 150 participants from nearly 50 countries, including representatives of 30 news agencies, 3 international organizations and 82 media organizations, and serves as a collaborative platform for discussion and teamwork among participants.
