Alagie Singhateh, also known by his old musical pseudonym Freeky Joe, a renowned Gambian international artist, producer, and sound engineer, has been working with 10 other artists including the Kora Maestro Jaliba Kuyateh, for the OIC Summit theme song ‘United for Gambia –OIC’.
In an interview with Gambia Daily Life & Entertainment about the project, Singhateh explained that through the project, they advocate for peace and unity in the country, regardless of political affiliation.
He expressed his dedication to using his studio to promote and contribute to the development of the country by encouraging young artists and giving them all the support that they desire.
The studio, he explained, was initially for his private recordings but due to his project, which is a Diaspora Development Fund, he decided to help in the development of The Gambia and Gambian artists as well.
He explained that he is concentrating on the young people because ‘‘I think they need more help.’’
The promoter further said he is passionate about making sure artists achieve their desired level of quality without breaking the bank.
Singhateh then announced that he is also on a project with the MRC, involving vaccines, malaria, and meningitis.
He said his main focus as a producer is on the studio despite the demands of his loved ones to make new music. He added a lot of people are benefiting from the studio as it is going now.
‘‘So probably I might come back but not actively as a musician anymore,’’ he said.
Alagie Singhateh was born in Bansang, URR. His musical journey started as far back as his senior school years. He is now more into production and promotion.
