The executive and members of United Gambia Women Organisation last week paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of The Gambia (PORG) His Excellency Adama Barrow.
Shortly after their meeting with the President, Ousainou Jobe, Secretary General of the organisation told journalists that he is excited to have met with the President and to have shared with him their objective and their activities. He noted that the organisation is engaged in social activities across the country, especially in cleaning public places such as mosques, hospitals and other places.
“The president has informed us that he is aware of the organisation and appreciative of the work we do. He urged us to continue the good work in the country,’’ he said.
Mr. Jobe disclosed that the President also told them that they can collaborate with the Ministry of Women and Gender since the organisation is entirely a women’s organisation.
Sirah Badjie of the United Gambia Women Organisation highlighted the activities of the organisation in the country, which include: providing kettles and mats to the mosques, support orphans and Daras in order to help make the society better.
“This organisation has covered the entire country. “We have been receiving support from people like Sanna Dahaba, Executive Director of NDMA; Honourable Bakary Badjie, Minister of Youth and Sports; Mr. Lamin Saidy, and many other Gambians,’’ she noted.
