Banjul, 14th April 2025: His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, the Vice President of The Gambia, on Friday, 11 April received three high-level delegations at the State House in Banjul. The courtesy visits were aimed at strengthening ties, exploring development partnerships, and discussing ongoing and future initiatives with the Government of The Gambia.
Among the delegations was a team from the Sheikh Abdullah Al Nouri Charity Society, a Kuwaiti humanitarian organisation, accompanied by representatives from their Gambian partner, Awaid Al-Akhair. Speaking during the visit, the head of delegation and General Manager, Mr. Waleef Al-Saif, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet with the Vice President. He highlighted the charity’s work in The Gambia, which includes construction of mosques and schools, provision of boreholes for communities, and support for orphans and vulnerable populations.
In a separate engagement, Vice President Jallow also welcomed a delegation of Polish investors led by Mr. Marcin Augustyniak, Commercial Director of the visiting team. Mr. Augustyniak shared their vision of launching a waste management enterprise in Africa, including Gambia. He noted that the initiative would create job opportunities and eventually lead to the establishment of local factories.
“We aim to take selected individuals from African countries to train in Poland on how to manufacture high-quality products. Once trained, they will return to set up factories here in Africa,” Mr. Augustyniak explained.
The Vice President also received a delegation from the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC), who are in the country for an extraordinary meeting. The head of the delegation revealed that the meeting seeks to ratify the statute of the network, develop a comprehensive database of resources managed by electoral commissioners, and conduct a post-election needs assessment.
All three delegations expressed their gratitude to Vice President Jallow for the warm reception and reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to The Gambia’s development in their respective areas of expertise.
