Gamstars Movie Production, a Gambian entertainment group that aims to promote the country’s movie industry and bring young people together to showcase their talents recently premiered a new movie on its YouTube channel.

The movie titled ‘Family Dispute’ was recently launched at an event held at Alliance Francaise along Kairaba Avenue, attracting high-profile personalities, members of the media, movie and entertainment personalities and other members of the public. The premiere was punctuated with art and drama performances.

The movie is a thrilling masterpiece that brings to the fore a once-united family, which was disunited and totally ravaged by disputes of one kind or another. The premiere of this groundbreaking movie, written and directed by a Gambian, Pa Modou Cham also known as ‘Gambian Odumu’, has once again set the country’s movie industry in the spotlight, after being dormant for the past years.

Mr. Cham, who is the founder of Gamstars Movie Production, called on Gambians both in the country and in the diaspora to support young talents in order to contribute immensely to the socio-economic development of the country. He added that young Gambians in the movie industry are indeed trying to play their part in the productive sector of the economy but lack the maximum support.

Pa Modou Cham, the director of the film explained that his production house is empowering the young ones through filmmaking, as well as create opportunities for the youth to showcase their talent irrespective of geographical boundaries.

Gamstars, he further explained, is a film production established in 2012 to provide and equip Gambian youths with the necessary life and emotional skills to grow and transform them into future actors.

“Our vision is to build confident and empowered young talented and creative Gambians with constructive, critical competencies, innovative life skills, and knowledge for accelerated economic and sustainable development through filmmaking.

We know the film industry is still struggling but with commitment, dedication and determination, we can build a better film industry in the country. I called on individuals and donors to support us in order to contribute our part in nation-building,’’ he said.

Cham said he produced films involving great young actors who are passionate to drive the self-determination concept among young people in the film industry.
