Abu Dhabi, 14th April, 2023 (WAM) – The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, arrives in the
United Arab Emirates this Saturday (15/04). The visit, at the invitation of the Emirati president,
Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is the second bilateral visit by the Brazilian leader to the country.
The first was in December 2003. On the occasion, Lula met with the then president of the Emirates,
the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, considered the founding father of the nation.
During the meeting, which was attended by other members of the Emirati government, the two
leaders discussed ways to improve bilateral cooperation, mainly in the trade and economic areas.
Sheikh Zayed also expressed gratitude to the Brazilian authorities for taking care of the Arab

cooperation between the two countries could be expanded to include areas of trade, economics and
investment. Currently, Brazilian authorities estimate that Emirati investments in Brazil are around
US$10 billion. Mubadala, Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth fund, is an example.
