PS Sanyang Tasks Staff of ‘Shelter for Children’ to Ensure Effective Service Delivery

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, Mr. Saikou K Sanyang; and the Director of Children Affairs, Madam Bintou Fatty recently presided over a Staff Meeting held at the Shelter for Children in Bakoteh.

During the meeting, the Director of Children Affairs, Madam Bintou Fatty, said that the meeting was meant for the Permanent Secretary to have first hand information about departments and facilities under his purview, as well as to discuss with staff on the progress, challenges and chart a way forward to enhance smooth operations, foster relationships and enhance effective service delivery.              

 She added that, the meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss with the staff issues related to public service delivery and the operations of the Shelter for Children. 

On his part, PS Sanyang expressed delight at the meeting with the staff and discusses issues meant to enhance performance within the Ministry.

He described working with the vulnerable population as a daunting task which requires determination, dedication, commitment and perseverance.

Mr Sanynag also implored on staff to play by the rules as enshrined in the General Orders and Codes of Conduct. He  described the civil service as a system governed by rules and regulation and therefore there is a  need to follow official and standard operating procedures in the implementation of our terms of reference.

He finally assured the staff of his open-door policy approach and assured of working on some of the challenges and  to boost staff morale, and enhance performance.

The Permanent Secretary urged them to be united and embrace the spirit of tolerance and teamwork to meet the common good of the Ministry’s vision.
