In a high-stake intense encounter over the weekend, the Serrekunda West Nawettan (SWESO) match between Pipeline FC and Anfield FC ended in a narrow apparent futile one nil win for Pipeline, as both teams could not be saved from relegation.
Pipeline FC needed 4 goals to qualify, while Anfield was clamoring for a point to avoid relegation. However, while it is all over for Anfield, there remains a glimmer of hope for Pipepline as they await upcoming games for the chance of best loser spot with 6 points.
The first half of the game was barren with both sides squandering many chances.
The second half saw substitutions by both teams with Pipeline making most of it. This move by the Pipeline gaffer Abdoulie Gibba paid dividend as captain Yusupha Kujabi scored in the 73rd minute, igniting hope in the Pipeline side. However, despite the renewed hope, the Pipeline side could not find the back of the net again.
At the end of the final whistle players of teams threw themselves on the ground in frustration and disappointment.
